Details

Use this page to judge what Life on the Road changes, how to test it first, and whether it belongs in your save or server.

Life on the Road turns the Box Truck into a mobile workshop for 7 Days to Die, letting the vehicle carry workbench and forge utility while you travel. Test it on a fresh world or copied save before using it in a regular run.

The real risk is not only whether a vehicle spawns. It is whether saved vehicle data behaves after restart, update, and removal.

Vehicle loop

Life on the Road is mainly worth checking through map, POI, biome, or prefab placement, vehicle access route, driving, speed, and terrain behavior, fuel, repair, health, and storage, ownership and removal behavior, and recipe unlocks and required books. Do that in a copied save or test server before changing a main world.

Use 7 Days to Die Mods listing to confirm exact file names, branches, screenshots, and update notes; then judge the MOD by the in-game parts above, not only by whether the game launches.

  • Generate or load a test world, visit the affected places, then restart and check quest and trader routes.
  • Check whether the vehicle is crafted, bought, looted, quested, or admin-spawned.
  • Drive through roads, bridges, trader areas, POI doors, hills, and rough ground.
  • Refuel, damage, repair, fill storage, save, restart, and reconnect before public use.

Travel and access

Life on the Road turns the Box Truck into a mobile workshop for 7 Days to Die, letting the vehicle carry workbench and forge utility while you travel. Test it on a fresh world or copied save before using it in a regular run.

Life on the Road should be tested through how players get the vehicle, fuel it, repair it, store items in it, and use it across real roads and POIs.

  • Check crafting, trader access, loot, or admin spawn separately.
  • Drive through cities, bridges, trader areas, and rough terrain.

Saved vehicle data

The important test is persistence: ownership, vehicle storage, repair state, fuel, position, and removal behavior after restart.

  • Do not use player-owned live vehicles as the first removal test.
  • Keep a world backup before changing a vehicle pack.

Server garage rules

On servers, write parking, abandoned vehicle, storage loss, and admin-recovery rules before the MOD becomes part of regular play.

  • Restart and reconnect before calling the setup stable.
  • Tell players how vehicle storage is handled on rollback.
  1. Spawn

Craft, buy, loot, or admin-spawn the vehicle through the intended route.

  2. Drive

Test city roads, rough terrain, bridges, POI doors, and trader areas.

  3. Persist

Use storage, refuel, repair, restart, and check whether ownership survives.

  4. Server

Set parking, abandoned-vehicle, and lost-storage rules before launch.

Install and first test

Run the check on a copy first, then decide whether it belongs in a real save or server.

  1. Check the branchCompare Source page live; verify V3 branch with the source page before installing.
  2. Check the install sideStart from Check source page install side, then confirm whether clients, server, or both sides need matching files.
  3. Test the changed contentCheck map, POI, biome, or prefab placement, vehicle access route, driving, speed, and terrain behavior, and fuel, repair, health, and storage, then save, restart, and reconnect if the MOD is used on a server.
  4. Test a copyUse a copied world or staging server before regular players join.
  5. Record the resultKeep the source page, file label, game branch, and rollback point together.

Server use

Use this part before bringing the MOD into a regular server.

Vehicles
Test several vehicle types, not only one admin-spawned example.
Storage
Check inventory after restart and disconnect.
Removal
Remove only on a copied world first.

Notes before use

The page is useful for planning, but it does not replace your own branch and save test.

  • Do not use live player vehicles as the first removal test.
  • Keep fuel, repair, storage, and ownership rules visible on servers.
